SabahBusiness Policies

Listing Guidelines

Standards for creating accurate, useful and trustworthy business listings on SabahBusiness.com.my.

Purpose of these guidelines

These guidelines apply to business owners, authorised representatives and Freelance Contributors who submit or manage listings on SabahBusiness.com.my. They are intended to improve listing quality, reduce misleading or duplicate information, and help users discover businesses with confidence.

01

Real & Legitimate Businesses

Listings should represent genuine businesses, organisations, professionals or services that can reasonably be verified. Do not create fictitious businesses or listings intended only to manipulate search visibility.

02

Accurate Business Information

Business names, categories, addresses, contact details, operating information and descriptions should be accurate and kept reasonably up to date. Do not deliberately provide false or misleading information.

03

Business Name

Use the business or trading name normally used by the business. Avoid unnecessary keywords, promotional phrases, phone numbers, excessive capital letters or location stuffing in the business name field.

04

Categories & Locations

Select categories and locations that genuinely describe the business and where it operates. Do not select unrelated categories merely to obtain additional exposure.

05

Descriptions

Descriptions should clearly explain the business, products or services offered. Content should be useful to users and should not contain deceptive claims, irrelevant keyword repetition or material copied without permission.

06

Images, Logos & Media

Only upload images, logos, videos or other media that you own, are authorised to use, or otherwise have the legal right to submit. Media should be relevant to the listed business and must not intentionally mislead users.

07

Contact Details & Links

Phone numbers, email addresses, websites and social links should belong to, or be authorised for use by, the listed business. Links must not intentionally redirect users to unrelated, deceptive or harmful destinations.

08

Duplicate Listings

Avoid creating multiple listings for the same business at the same location. Separate listings may be appropriate for genuine branches or locations where the information materially differs.

09

Unclaimed & Claimed Listings

SabahBusiness.com.my may contain business information compiled from public or other legitimate sources. Such listings may initially appear as unclaimed. A claim does not automatically guarantee approval; ownership or authorised representation may need to be verified.

10

Changes After Claiming

Approved business owners or authorised representatives may manage eligible listing information through the available SabahBusiness tools. Changes remain subject to platform rules, review and verification where appropriate.

11

Prohibited or Unacceptable Content

Listings must not be used for unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive or abusive purposes. SabahBusiness may reject or remove content including:

  • fake, impersonated or deliberately misleading businesses;
  • fraudulent offers, scams or deceptive contact information;
  • malware, phishing links or content intended to compromise users;
  • content that unlawfully infringes intellectual property or privacy rights;
  • spam, irrelevant promotional content or repeated duplicate submissions;
  • content that violates applicable law or other SabahBusiness policies.
12

Freelance Contributor Standards

Freelance Contributors must use legitimate and reasonably verifiable information, avoid fabricated or duplicate listings, and follow any additional contributor instructions issued by SabahBusiness.com.my. Contributor-submitted listings remain subject to administrative review.

13

Verification Is Not a Guarantee

Any verification, claim status or platform indicator reflects the checks or status applicable at that time. Users should still exercise appropriate judgement before entering into transactions with a listed business.

14

Moderation & Enforcement

SabahBusiness.com.my may review, edit, request clarification, reject, suspend, merge or remove listings or content that is inaccurate, duplicated, outdated, misleading, unsafe or inconsistent with these guidelines or other applicable policies.

15

Reporting a Listing

If you believe a listing contains inaccurate, misleading, duplicated or inappropriate information, contact SabahBusiness through the official support or contact channel and provide enough information for the matter to be reviewed.

Keeping SabahBusiness Useful & Trustworthy

These guidelines may be updated as SabahBusiness.com.my develops new features, categories and services. Continued submission or management of listings remains subject to the current guidelines and other applicable SabahBusiness policies.
